Netflix Family Review

“Mom, I’m bored!” If I had a nickel for every time I have heard that I’d be rich by now! I love to entertain my kids; however, there are times where I am busy cooking dinner or working from home, and unfortunately, I can’t give them my undivided attention. I’m sure you can relate. During the summer time, it is especially hard to entertain my children because even though they are off from school, I still have to work from home. I don’t want to be one of those moms who just plops their child down in front of the TV because I want to be able to monitor what they are watching.

Often times even if the TV show is appropriate, the commercials are filthy or scary so I am typically not a fan of my children watching TV. I do love having Netflix though! I love the commercial-free programs and the fact that I can choose from hundreds of shows and pick the ones I will allow my children to watch.

Netflix has just launched a new family site,, which features several new categories including Family Movie Night, Are We There Yet and TV for Curious Kids--this has greatly helped with our family movie and TV streaming as my kids love variety in their movie choices! The beauty of Netflix is the fact that Netflix works on a wide range of devices including smartphones, tablets, laptops, Smart TVs, Sony PlayStation, Microsoft Xbox and Nintendo Wii. We have tried to incorporate family movie night several times a month and we love the fact that Netflix remembers what we have watched and gives us suggestions based on our movie history.

Typically, as a family we spend nearly double on summer entertainment; however a one-year Netflix subscription costs less than taking a family of five on two trips to the movie theater – and that’s without popcorn! Netflix delivers big entertainment without breaking the bank. For $7.99 a month, Netflix allows unlimited movie screening on their site. You can’t go wrong with that!
