Salt Dough DIY

Salt Dough DIY

Awesome salt dough recipe for any occasion! My girls and I decided to make a batch for Halloween.

INGREDIENTS:

4 Cups of Flour

2 Cups of Salt

Add Water slowly to make texture of “Play Dough”

Preheat oven to 275*

There are literally 10000′s of things you can make with this dough, so we decided to make handprints and Halloween decorations. To make the handprints roll dough out into the desired shape. (Be sure counter is floured) Flour hand and press firmly into the middle of the dough. Life and BAM! You have a your child’s handprint forever. So cute and easy! We also chose to use Halloween cookie cutters to make the ghost shape, and rolled the dough into balls to make pumpkins. Place shaped dough onto a cookie sheet, giving some room for expansion. Bake at 275 for up to 2 hours depending on the thickness of your dough shapes. The pumpkins had to bake for about 3 hours.

Once your dough is out of the oven let cool for several hours. We chose to let ours go overnight. Now you can get crazy and paint any way you like! You can use craft paint or whatever you have on hand. We chose nail polish! With 3 girls in the house we have more than enough laying around.

Get CREATIVE!! We used fishing line and hung these from the bushes in the front yard. Endless possibilities! Can’t wait for Christmas time. I think I see ornaments in our future :)
